Toyota Save Mart 2015: Winner, recap and results from Sonoma

Kyle Busch returned to the track just over a month ago at Charlotte. On Sunday at Sonoma, he returned to Victory Lane and put himself in the discussion for the Chase.

Busch was out for the start of the season with a broken leg, but still has a chance to make NASCAR’s postseason after receiving a waiver. The only problem was he still didn’t have a victory heading into the 16th race of the year.

With his bow to the crowd at Sonoma, he accomplished just that on Sunday.

The race didn’t go as well for Pocono winner Martin Truex Jr., who wrecked early in the race after he was turned by David Ragan coming out of the Esses. That ended a streak of 14 top 10s in the first 15 races, something only accomplished previously by Richard Petty in 1969.

Busch was followed by his older brother Kurt Busch, who came just short of his second consecutive win and third of the year. Clint Bowyer had his best result of the season by finishing third, followed by Kevin Harvick and Joey Logano.
