Xfinity driver and current full-time N.C. State student Harrison Rhodes will drive a car sponsored by N.C. State at Charlotte Motor Speedway in this Saturday’s Xfinity race.

Rhodes, 22, made the announcement earlier this year that he will switch from JD Motorsports to Obaika Racing in the No. 97 car. On Wednesday morning, a look at the car he will drive was released by NC State.

As the only current full-time college student and full-time driver, Rhodes has been working with N.C. State about gaining sponsorship for over a year now. “I couldn’t be more excited to have their support!” Rhodes said of partnering with the Wolfpack.

This will be the first time N.C. State has sponsored a driver at any NASCAR level. Given the importance of the Charlotte race for the state of North Carolina, hopefully this scheme will attract more attention to the Xfinity event on Saturday, May 28 at 2:30 p.m. ET.
