NASCAR reacts to Ricky Stenhouse Jr. shedding mullet for charity event

For several months, NASCAR fans have grown accustomed to Ricky Stenhouse Jr.’s majestic mullet and flowing locks at the track. Though he wore a helmet, his walks down pit road before and after races looking like a cross between Kenny Powers and a young Jeff Gordon were epic.

Now it is no more. Like a hawk swooping down to steal a puppy, someone has taken Stenhouse’s regal mullet from us. His first mullet-less appearance was at a Drive for Autism charity golf event.

Pete Pistone of Motor Racing Network then helped break the urgent news. Meanwhile, @nascarcasm bid his farewell to the party in the back.

Danica Patrick apparently was never a huge fan of the wild creature Stenhouse had grown over his neck. When asked if Patrick would cut it off if given the chance, Stenhouse said, “Oh, 100 percent.” Suffice to say, we can whittle the list of potential culprits down. Stenhouse and the entire Roush-Fenway Racing team have been mired in struggles this season. But with Greg Biffle finishing second at Charlotte and Stenhouse’s new weight reduction, the RFR team might be turning a corner heading into Dover. Here’s a look at some of the best reactions from the breaking story, including our own farewell to the Stenhouse mullet.

Once the NASCAR world finally calmed down, a culprit was found. Kyle Larson confessed his girlfriend, Katelyn Sweet, was guilty of shaving the mullet.
