It’s becoming a weekly ritual. NASCAR issues written warnings to big-name drivers after failing inspections for a number of different reasons. Only this time, the most popular driver in the sport was on the list.

Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kyle Busch and Carl Edwards were all given warnings from NASCAR following the Quicken Loans 400. Busch, Edwards and Josh Wise all failed pre-qualifying inspections while Earnhardt flunked pre-race inspection at Michigan International Speedway.

As with Jimmie Johnson and Danica Patrick the previous week, no penalties were handed down for any driver. But if another warning is issued after Sonoma for any of the four names on the list, it would result in a penalty.

The warnings were issued on the same day that Junior announced his engagement to now fiancee Amy Reimann. That’s not exactly the gift Earnhardt expected from NASCAR. It’s also even more pressure for Busch, who finished 43rd at MIS and is still in search of a Chase spot.
