In the midst of his worst season as a NASCAR driver, Tony Stewart is still fighting. The owner of Stewart-Haas Racing is also coming off one of his worst races of 2015, but heads to one of his best tracks in New Hampshire.
During his career at the track, Stewart has nailed down three victories. That ties him with Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson and Kurt Busch among active drivers for the most wins. But with more top fives than any other driver, Stewart has a knack for finding his way to the front.
Stewart isn’t making any excuses for this season. In fact, he actually placed the full blame on himself earlier this week for his lack of success.
But with a stretch coming that includes New Hampshire, running the Eldora Speedway race and heading to Indianapolis, Stewart has a lot to be happy about.
His results at Kentucky can’t be completely thrown out, but they were with the updated rules package. Prior to missing the top 30 in The Bluegrass State, Stewart narrowly missed out on top 10s at Sonoma and Daytona. He’ll be competitive again at NHMS.
At just $8,800, DraftKings owners will get a driver who has similar stats to Busch and Johnson at the track. While he might not have the numbers this year to prove it, Stewart’s second season will truly start on Sunday.
