I can feel it coming in the air tonight. Oh Lord. I’ve been waiting for this moment all my life.
Yes, I did just quote Phil Collins. But in the case of Joey Logano, these lyrics are so fitting. Coming off three straight standout races with top-five finishes and 63 total laps led, Logano is eyeing a second career win at Pocono.
The Team Penske drivers have combined to lead over 200 laps in the last three weeks total, but the win is still slipping through their fingers. But with Logano’s recent track record at Pocono with Penske and his past success with Joe Gibbs Racing, it’s finally time.
Over his last five races at Pocono with Penske, Logano has four top-10 results and two top fives. The only time he didn’t finish inside the top 10? Engine troubles last spring caused him to drop to 40th after starting seventh.
Past success isn’t the only factor on Logano’s side, though. He holds a 9.3 average finish this season. In the last seven races dating back to the first Pocono race, Logano has also averaged 49 fantasy points per race.
Logano’s season hasn’t been as sweet as the “In the Air Tonight” drum solo, but it’s about to get better. Can you feel it?
