LOOK: Denny Hamlin’s hood flies into windshield at Watkins Glen

Just two weeks after he had a similar issue at Indianapolis, Denny Hamlin had hood pin issues on Sunday at Watkins Glen. After making contact with another driver, Hamlin’s hood shot up into the windshield.

Hamlin drove another lap on the track with the hood up in the windshield as he looked under the flap. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver was asking to stay out, but was black flagged by NASCAR and forced to go to the pits.

After the hood was removed, Hamlin lost another piece of the car and a caution came out. During the caution, the team worked hard to repair the damage with another hood from the backup car. That also sparked some hilarious video from the NBC Sports Network broadcast.

Luckily for Hamlin, he already has a win this season and is virtually locked into the Chase. He might not come away with a strong finish at Watkins Glen, but he still has a lot to look forward to with the Chase coming up in a few weeks.
