Being a gasman can be a dangerous gig on the NASCAR sidelines. Jacob Conley, Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s fueler, found that out that out the hard way on Saturday night at Texas Motor Speedway.

During a pit stop, a lug nut and some fuel caused a massive fire that followed Dale Earnhardt Jr. down pit road before getting back on the track.

Earnhardt didn’t lose any ground on the stop, but it was terrifying for his crew nonetheless. Luckily, pit crews are used to dangerous conditions throughout races. You know, that’s why they wear firesuits.
