You didn’t think Dale Earnhardt Jr. was just going to roll up into the biggest race in North Carolina with a bland paint scheme, did you? Of course not. NASCAR’s most popular driver will drive a patriotic livery that will surely stand out on Sunday during the Coca-Cola 600.

The night before Memorial Day, Earnhardt will race a look that features the same familiar blue colors up front and stars with a white top and back quarter panels emblazoned with red stripes.

After coming up just short of winning his second All-Star Race on Saturday night, Junior will be a driver to watch during the Coca-Cola 600. Given the importance on the race schedule and to his home state of North Carolina, the 41-year-old driver made no bones about how much he wants to win this weekend’s event.

“I’ve won the All-Star race, but I haven’t won the 600 or a point race at Charlotte,” Earnhardt said. “It’s a track I consider my home track. I’d much rather win the 600 than the All-Star race.”

On Sunday, with his brand new paint scheme and the confidence from finishing third in the All-Star Race, Junior might finally get to Victory Lane after the longest race in NASCAR.
