This season has already been a tough one for Alex Bowman. On Sunday, the Tommy Baldwin Racing driver’s day went up in flames in New Hampshire—literally.
Bowman started the race 40th and never truly challenged to work his way into the top 30 on the afternoon. Then, on Lap 117, the No. 7 machine visited pit lane for a flat right front tire before burst into flames leaving the pits.
The day was a rough one for Bowman already, but it got worse for a crew member trying to douse the flames. Bowman’s reaction, however, was pure gold.
The No. 7 team had to pack up early on Sunday in New Hampshire, but he’ll get another crack at Indianapolis Motor Speedway next week. Entering the Brickyard 400 for the second time in his career, Bowman will look to improve on his 40th-place finish last year.
Meanwhile, that crew member will try to recover from the embarrassment and ridicule from Bowman.
