Kyle Busch could use some luck these days after finishing 30th or worse in his last four points races. On Friday afternoon, he picked up a rabbit’s foot to help turn around his fortunes — in the worst way imaginable.
The defending Sprint Cup champion took out a jackrabbit during the final practice at Sonoma on Friday afternoon. Video of the incident was not released (for obvious reasons) but the jackrabbit didn’t go down without a fight, leading a huge gash in Busch’s front clip.

“It tore off a little bit of the brake ducts and stuff like that, and the hoses and things are not where they’re supposed to be,” Busch said on Fox Sports 1. “That thing came out of nowhere.
“I seen it for a second, and I moved a little bit right and said, ‘Keep going, keep going.’ He stopped and turned, we looked eye to eye and then it was over. That was no fun. I am a Bugs Bunny fan, a huge Bugs Bunny fan, so that’s not what we intended to do today.”

Busch would head to the garage to clean off the blood and repair the damage done from the wascally wabbit.
Even with three wins already this season, Busch has as many finishes outside the top 30 (five) as top-two results (five) in the last 10 races. Returning to the same track where he clinched his first win last season, expect Busch to get back on track at Sonoma despite hitting a rabbit hole before the weekend started.
