It’s not a question of if, but rather when at Daytona. The Big One always strikes at some point with cars traveling at over 200 mph on a restrictor-plate track.
Late Sunday—errrr, early Monday morning—the Big One struck on Lap 105 at Daytona. The wreck during the Coke Zero 400 took down some huge names when Matt Kenseth and Aric Almirola made contact, sending Almirola spinning.
Kasey Kahne and Martin Truex Jr. slammed into the wall while Kyle Larson was sent into an infield wall and crushed the nose of his No. 42 car. Larson was slowly climbing back up into the Chase Grid, but hurt his chances with a DNF at Daytona.

Truex, who had 14 top 10s through the first 15 races, now has two straight DNFs after the Father’s Day break. It’s a difficult stretch for the No. 78 team, but he’s already locked into the Chase with his Pocono win.
“We were running outside minding our business and just got caught up in somebody else’s business,” Truex said on the NBC broadcast. “It’s unfortunate, but it’s just the way this place is. … I can’t remember the last time I finished a July race here.”
Here is a full breakdown of the 10 cars involved in the wreck at Daytona.
