Throughout his career, Jeff Gordon has been known as the Rainbow Warrior. But over the last decade, that moniker hasn’t been as fitting with flames and other paint schemes donning the No. 24 machine.
One Gordon fan named Joey Knofczynski is working to change that. Knofczynski started a petition to bring back the iconic rainbow paint scheme from the 1990s for Gordon’s final full-time season.
According to the page, over 2,100 Gordon fans have signed up at the time this article was written, but Knofczynski still needs roughly 12,800 more to sign. Whether or not that will change the minds of Hendrick Motorsports or Axalta is a different story.
“As 2015 will be Jeff’s final full season in NASCAR, let us celebrate his unrivaled career with one of the most iconic paint schemes of all time,” Knofczynski writes. “He deserves it. While this scheme would be best for Homestead, it would be fantastic for any race this year.”
It would be a sight to see the rainbow machine return, but I want to see another iconic part of Gordon’s early career back on the track. No, not his Dupont sponsorship. Someone needs to start a petition to bring back Gordon’s majestic mullet.
No, seriously, please? Thanks.
