Jeff Gordon, crew chief Alan Gustafson battle it out in Axalta 400 at Pocono

The swan song for Jeff Gordon was supposed to be a huge storyline of the 2015 season. Instead, questions have been raised about whether or not he’ll get to Victory Lane at any point to even secure a spot on the Chase Grid.

Added pressure has also apparently caused some tension between Gordon and crew chief Alan Gustafson on the track. Late in the race, with the No. 24 car well behind leader Martin Truex Jr., the two argued over whether or not Gordon should take fuel when he stopped during a caution.

Here’s the audio from the fiery argument (Warning: NSFW language!):

Gordon later shared his thoughts on the 14th-place finish for his team on Twitter.

Following Gordon’s frustrating finish at Pocono, he now heads to a track where he’s enjoyed plenty of success. Gordon has three wins at Michigan along with 19 top-five results—one victory coming last August.

Will Gustafson and Gordon boil over again? Or will they celebrate in Victory Lane for the first time in 2015? We’ll have to wait to find out when the Sprint Cup Series heads to Michigan this Sunday on Fox Sports 1.
