Joey Logano fought off a hard charge from Kevin Harvick late at Bristol to claim his second straight Irwin Tools Night Race win and third of the season. Logano got even more experience burning out after winning at Watkins Glen just two weeks earlier.

With two weeks before the Darlington race and just two races separating the Sprint Cup from the Chase, Logano has built plenty of momentum. Team Penske heads in with both cars already locked into the Chase, but it’s Logano that is showing championship mettle.

Harvick, meanwhile, finished second yet again. The No. 4 team is rounding back into form with his 10th second-place result and fifth top-three finish in the last six races. There’s no doubt that Harvick will be ready to compete for another championship, but the question is whether he can close the deal if he needs a victory at Homestead-Miami.

The lead changed rapidly throughout the night, with Denny Hamlin pacing the field early. But Kyle Busch quickly showed his muscle on the short track with 192 laps led of his own before a pit road penalty. Carl Edwards also took the lead for 74 laps of his own, but the Joe Gibbs Racing dominance would come to an end late.

Hamlin still wound up third while Edwards and Busch finished seventh and eighth, respectively. Matt Kenseth, coming off a win last weekend, was met with different circumstances at Bristol. He wound up finishing 42nd, but is still locked in like his three teammates in the Chase.

Hendrick, on the other hand, continued its frustrating run. Jimmie Johnson and Dale Earnhardt Jr., the only Hendrick drivers locked into the Chase, finished inside the top 10. Kasey Kahne and Jeff Gordon finished two and four laps down in 16th and 20th, respectively. Gordon even declined comment following the race.

With momentum and frustration both building after Bristol, here’s a look at the final results.
