Earlier this week, the Arizona Cardinals made headlines by hiring Dr. Jen Welter, believed to be the first female football coach in the NFL. It’s a story that’s made headlines all across the sports world, and now the lone female in the Sprint Cup has made her voice heard.

The NASCAR star took to Twitter to congratulate the newest member of the Cardinals sideline.

Before the likes of Becky Hammon of the Spurs and Welter were breaking down barriers, Patrick has carved her way into a male-dominated sport.

While there were females in NASCAR prior to Patrick, no one has been as successful. The Stewart-Haas Racing driver recently achieved her sixth top-10 finish, which now stands as a record in the sport.

Both women serve as role models for young girls hoping to make an impact in either sport. Patrick has already spent three years in NASCAR and even more in IndyCar prior to breaking through in stock cars, so Welter has quite a bit of catching up to do.
