Anything Dale Earnhardt Jr. does on social media turns to gold. That’s what happens when you’re a 12-time Most Popular Driver Award winner.

On Wednesday afternoon Junior sent Twitter into a frenzy with a sneak peek of the car he’ll be driving later this year.

Speculation started with several fans thinking the primary sponsor could be Valvoline, made famous by former drivers Cale Yarborough and Mark Martin. Earnhardt might just be bringing oily back.

Every track on the Sprint Cup series is now going to want to play host to the new Earnhardt paint scheme. At the end of the summer — perhaps August? — the No. 88 machine will be at Pocono, Watkins Glen, Michigan and Bristol.

After sweeping Pocono last season, Junior should bring something new to the party. Watkins Glen and Bristol can’t be ruled out, but that paint scheme would get wrecked at those tracks. That leaves Michigan, a track that Yarborough won at eight times.

Earnhardt’s a wild card when it comes to stuff like this but you can also bet on a planned strategy here. Either way the point remains: when Earnhardt rolls out a new look, the NASCAR world certainly takes notice.
