Dale Earnhardt Jr. gets inspiration from mom following Richmond race

Sunday wasn’t a stroll in the park for Dale Earnhardt Jr. Not only did he drive 400 laps around a short track in Richmond, but he finished outside of the top 10 and got touched up by Tony Stewart in the process.

Never fear, Junior, mama is coming to the rescue.

Following the race, Earnhardt’s mother, Brenda Jackson, sent the No. 88 driver an uplifting text that he shared on Twitter.

Isn’t that why moms are awesome? Just a few weeks ahead of Mother’s Day—May 10, guys … you’re welcome—and she felt compelled to make sure her son knew she was thinking of him. If that doesn’t make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, I’m not sure what will.

Of course the quote she sent over was pulled from an old John Denver song called, “Some Days Are Diamonds.” But in Junior’s world, every day is a diamond when you have support from the most important people in your life.
